My Story

Thank you for supporting our team for the 2026 London Legal Walk!

We’ll be walking 10km across London to fund essential legal support for people seeking safety and family reunion.

Our team is:

  • Flora
  • Zeina
  • Teresa
  • Isaac
  • Anastasia
  • Sadaf
  • Domenico
  • Rebecca

The rights of people on the move are being threatened around the globe, and it’s getting harder for people to find legal support. Our work is more important than ever.

Just £30 can be enough for us to answer someone who needs our support.

Your donation will help us to:

  • Support people displaced by the climate crisis
  • Reunite families separated while fleeing danger
  • Support people to claim asylum in Greece
  • Make sure those recently arrived in the UK have the legal information to make informed decisions about their future
  • Restore power to communities

Every donation helps us towards our goal

Thank you for standing in solidarity with people on the move.

Aalem’s* Story

Aalem was just 14 when he was forced to flee his home in Afghanistan with his 10-year-old brother. His father and older brother had been murdered by the Taliban, and they knew that they were in danger.

During their journey, Aalem lost contact with his brother when they had to flee gunfire – he grabbed the wrong child’s hand in the chaos.

Aalem heard that his brother might be in Greece, so he headed there. But he missed his brother by just a few days. His brother had managed to join family in the UK.

Now isolated and facing awful conditions, the stress took a visible toll on Aalem. Although still a teenager, he started losing his hair, which had also turned grey.

Aalem needed to join his family in the UK, but his case was complex. He had to navigate dysfunctional family reunion procedures.

Thankfully, he was supported by our family reunion project in the UK, and could be helped locally by our team in Greece.

It was a lengthy process, with the team spending days collecting the necessary evidence and putting the case together. But eventually, after years of waiting, Aalem made it to the UK to join his family.

“We see a light at the end of the tunnel. We have lots of plans for the future together.”
