My Story

Thank you for supporting our team for the Reading Legal Walk 2024.

Our team is: Sophie Wells (with more to follow)

We are taking on a sponsored 10km walk on Tuesday 17th September to raise funds for advice agencies in Reading & The Thames Valley.

At the end of 2023, 4 million families (34% of all those on low incomes) were sitting on debts used explicitly to help pay for food, housing costs and other household bills.

As the cost of living has risen dramatically, the money raised by our Walk will go a long way in supporting our local agencies to ensure they can keep the lights on, and doors open for people like David.

David was facing a complex array of challenges, including housing issues and financial struggles. An adviser from an advice agency played a pivotal role in conducting a thorough review of David's situation. They successfully secured additional monthly income through a Universal Credit application, providing immediate financial relief for David's family. Despite other remaining challenges, their intervention has had an immediate and profound impact on David and his family. This local free legal advice agency wouldn't be able to provide this support without people like you taking part in the Reading Legal Walk and fundraising.

There are many marginalised people in the local area who rely on help from these agencies.

Please sponsor our walkers as generously as you are able.

Many thanks for your support.
