My Story

Possability People supports disabled people to live independently, with dignity and without prejudice.

Thank you for visiting our team's fundraising page for the 2022 Brighton Legal Walk and helping to make it a brilliant year!

Our team is: Naomi Duncan; Dan Duncan; Maddy Hamp, Emily Keller; Katy McGrory; Alistair McGrory, Professor Elemental, Vicky Passow

We are walking and scooting for 10km walk on Wednesday 18 May to raise funds for Possability People's Advice Centre.

Last year, our Advice Centre dealt with 4,545 enquiries. One of those was Lawrence, a young man living with his parents because of his frequent, uncontrolled seizures.

Lawrence can't travel outside of the house on his own. He can't prepare food or even bathe without someone being with him, and he relies on his family for encouragement and practical support. And yet despite attending a medical assessment, he was not awarded the full amount he was entitled to.

We supported Lawrence's' family through a benefit tribunal and won the case. He now recevies the enhanced rate of Personal Independence Paymet for his needs. And he will not now need to reapply for five years.

This is just one example of the work our Advice Centre do every day.

They need your help to do this work. Please sponsor our walkers as generously as you are able.

Many thanks for your support.

*We have used the name Lawrence to protect the identity of our client.
