My Story

Thank you for supporting our team in fundraising for the 2026 London Legal Walk. We will be taking on 10km on Tuesday 9 June to help those in need gain access to life-changing free legal advice.

Our team is: Gerard Omasta-Milsom, Besma Whayeb, David Moore, Nelson, Henrietta Cooke, Omotoyosi, Henri, Bahar Choudhary, Ailsa, Rosa, Manpriya Ailwadhi, Tammy, Amanatou Diallo, Heros, Georgia Haller, Brian Dorgan, Mike Butler.

By taking part in this walk our team is raising funds for the London Legal Support Trust, who are organising the event. The Trust have pledged to donate 100% of the funds we raise for them, so every pound you donate in support will mean a pound going to Islington People's Rights.

Ever since Islington People's Rights was founded in 1969, we have been committed to reducing poverty and the effects of debt in Islington.

Our work enables many Islington residents to increase their income and to deal with their debts, which also has a positive impact on the local community.

Each year we provide direct help to over 2,500 people in terms of their welfare benefits and debt problems. Around 70% identify as being disabled, many with mental health issues. Here are some things our clients have said about us:

"By the time I saw the worker at IPR I felt that I couldn’t go on. Just living from day to day was too much of a struggle. My son helped me a lot – several hours a day. But he’s in his 20’s and I felt like I was ruining his life. My IPR caseworker sorted things out. She helped me get Disability Living Allowance and I now have the care I need to live at home and get to the day centre where I have made some friends. I feel I can start living again and have a future."

Every step we take and every penny we raise brings us closer to a community where justice and support are accessible to all.

Please sponsor our walkers as generously as you are able.

Many thanks for your support.
