My Story

Legal Intervention To End Discriminatory systems

Help fund strategic litigation that forces the government to obey equality law and dismantle systemic racism.

The Black Equity Organisation (BEO) uses strategic litigation to challenge systemic racism and unlawful decision‑making where it causes the greatest harm. Through carefully selected judicial review cases, we intervene at points where public bodies fail to comply with equality and human‑rights law, driving change that benefits entire communities, not just individual claimants.

Our legal work has already confronted discriminatory state practices, including

  •   Failures to implement Windrush review recommendations,
  •  Racially biased criminal‑justice tagging schemes
  • Unlawful school exclusions
  •  Public‑sector decisions made without equality impact assessments

Our litigation targets structural unfairness and compels institutions to meet their legal duties.

With demand for accountability growing, BEO is scaling its strategic litigation programme to challenge discriminatory health, education, immigration and justice policies that place Black people and other racialised groups at disproportionate risk. This fund will enable us to bring focused, high‑impact cases that force lasting reform.

Why this matters

Strategic litigation is one of the most powerful tools available to marginalised communities, but it is costly and out of reach without public support. When discriminatory policies go unchallenged, inequality becomes embedded in everyday decision‑making.

BEO exists to ensure that unlawful practices do not go unchecked simply because affected communities lack access to justice.

By funding this work, you help ensure that equality law has real force protecting lives, livelihoods and futures through binding legal outcomes.

Your Impact

Your contribution will help fund judicial reviews, legal research, counsel fees and case preparation, enabling BEO to hold public bodies to account and secure change at scale.
