My Story

Thank you for supporting my skydive.

I will be leaping out of a plane 10,000 feet in the sky for the London Legal Support Trust on Sunday 14th July. I am absolutely terrified but I am really excited as it's for a great cause!

Coming from a socially mobile background, I understand how difficult it can be to access legal advice in today's socioeconomic and political climate. I am joining this skydive to say thank you to those who work tirelessly to help countless people get back on their feet with the legal support they need and deserve!

The London Legal Support Trust supports law centres and legal advice charities in London and the South East. These agencies help the most vulnerable people to combat injustice.

At the end of 2023, 4 million families (34% of all those on low incomes) were sitting on debts used explicitly to help pay for food, housing costs and other household bills.

As the cost of living is still rising dramatically, the money raised by my skydive will go a long way in supporting the free legal advice agencies on the frontline to ensure they can keep the lights on, and doors open for the people like Patricia.

Patricia, a single woman with no local family, faced the imminent threat of homelessness. Her emergency accommodation was being taken away. At this incredibly difficult time, and because of support from people like you, one of the specialist advice agencies we fund stood as her pillar of hope. Racing against time, the centre's committed team sent an emergency plea to the Housing Team. This swift action ensured Patricia a safe haven for a week, allowing time to challenge her decision. The relentless advocacy of the centre led to a pivotal change: the council not only retracted their decision but also recognized their obligation to Patricia, offering her new accommodation. This intervention marked a transformative moment in Patricia's life, steering her from the edge of despair to a path of stability.

Receiving good legal advice at the right time can make a huge difference to people's lives reducing their chances of facing debt, poverty, homelessness, exploitation and discrimination.

Now more than ever your support is vital. Please sponsor my challenge as generously as you can!
